1. I enter my details but it’s telling me I have typed in the details incorrectly

This is a surprisingly common error.

The most common reason for this error is the wrong subject has been chosen. When you get to the page that asks you to enter your licence codes, please check that you have chosen the subject that you hold a licence for. It tells you exactly what subject has been chosen above the fields for your licence details.

If you have chosen the correct subject and it is still not accepting the code, please make sure that you are typing the details in exactly as printed including the appropriate spacing. Do not abbreviate anything or leave off anything as the school name forms part of the licence code.

One of the errors that can occur here is an additional space can be left at the end of a line which obviously can not be seen. This would cause an invalid licence. If you still receive the error, delete everything but the issue number from the boxes and re-type it.

If the issue number in the box is different from the issue number on your licence details then you have the wrong version of ExamWizard and it will not install.

2. ‘Not valid for this issue of the library’

This error occurs when you have licence details for one issue, and a disc for another. The licence details you have entered to install the program are for a different issue. So you may have entered issue 10 codes but used the issue 11 download or CD. You will need to get the correct version of the program for the licence details that you hold.

3. ‘EoleSys Error’

This is to do with a file not being registered. If you get this error, please follow the instructions here.

  1. Close programs and all windows and return to the desktop.
  2. Click Start and select Run.
  3. Type 'regsvr32.exe tx4ole.ocx' in the Open field.
  4. NOTE: The command must be typed exactly as you see it above. Verify that there is a space after .exe and before tx4ole.ocx.

  5. Click OK.
  6. Wait for the following confirmation message to appear: "DllRegisterServer in tx4ole.ocx succeeded." (The process may take approximately 10-15 seconds.)
  7. Close any windows that are open, and launch the program. The issue should be resolved.

4. ‘Invalid licence’

This error is likely to be due to an error in the '.ini' file on the local workstation or it may be missing.

When you enter your licence and registration details, ExamWizard will add the licence details to a file called 'exampro32.ini' which sits in the Windows folder on your local machine. When doing a standalone installation it will put this file in the correct place. When you do a network installation, Button A  will create and add the exampro32.ini to the local machine and put a copy in the ‘Workstation’ folder on the server.

5. ‘Invalid licence/Could not open library text file’ encountered when doing a network install

When you run Button A, by default ExamWizard will want to install into a folder called 'ExamWizard32'

During the installation, you will be asked where you want to install the files. Sometimes when you browse to the ExamWizard32 folder, it will add another 'ExamWizard32' to the end of the path, resulting in something like P:/apps/ExamWizard32/ExamWizard32

You will need to delete the second ExamWizard32 from the path, if you don’t it will create a second ExamWizard32 folder within the original one and you will get an error message.

6. 'Autoexec.nt system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft windows applications'

In order to solve this, go to the Start button and run a search for the file 'autoexec.nt' It is usually in the Repair folder, make a copy of it to the system32 folder (in Windows XP c:\windows\system32) and make a copy to the 'My Documents' folder, just in case you need it again. You may need to restart the computer.

7. After installing and running ExamWizard I receive the error message 'ordinal not found MFC.dll missing'

This error message is encountered on some machines running Windows XP or Windows 2000. This occurs if the operating system does not have two essential system files (.DLLs). The way to overcome this problem is to install and register the missing DLL files. ExamWizard demonstration versions will install these DLLs for you. Click on the link below to download a demo onto the machine on which you are experiencing problems with ExamWizard. Once you have downloaded the setup, double-click on it to install. Once the demo is installed, try the full software.

     Download demo

Now test the full version of ExamWizard. The problem should have disappeared.

8. A ‘Floating Point Overflow’ error appears when I try to print a document

This is due to an error or conflict with your printer driver, usually on a networked HP 2600N printer. There is no solution as yet, but if you export your document to Word, you can print from there.

10. When I try to install ExamWizard, my Anti-Virus software warns me of a Trojan Virus

There is NO VIRUS on the disc. This message only appears if you have AVG Anti-Virus software. We have spoken to AVG, and you are advised to call them directly on 01636 700 496 (ask for Sean Goodfellow and quote reference 'Doublestruck').  This is a problem AVG are keen to fix.
In addition to this, you can either ignore the message and the run the software, or browse the contents of the disc and run the '.exe' files directly.
